We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Legal Counsel to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting the organization’s mission by providing expert legal advice, drafting contracts, handling disputes, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive legal advice on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance, employment law, contracts, and intellectual property.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including agreements, contracts, memoranda of understanding (MoUs), and partnership agreements.
- Represent the organization in legal proceedings, including litigation, mediations, and arbitrations, as necessary.
- Conduct legal research and provide counsel on compliance, risk management, and regulatory matters.
- Collaborate with external legal teams, stakeholders, and government agencies as needed.
- Assist in developing and implementing organizational policies and ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards.
- Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations that impact the organization.
- Support the leadership team with legal insights and strategic advice on key initiatives and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B)
- Must be licensed to practice law in The Federal Republic of Nigeria.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in corporate law, non-profit law, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of legal frameworks related to social justice, human rights, economic development, or non-profit organizations.
- Proven track record in contract drafting and negotiation, risk management, and dispute resolution.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High ethical standards, with a passion for justice and social impact.
