LJE Nigeria – Operation Free the Bush!

Leadership Hub, Justice and Economic Advancement (LJE Nigeria) has launched a national campaign called “Operation Free the Bush” to combat kidnappers and criminal groups hiding in Nigeria’s forests, especially those linked to rogue elements within Fulani herdsmen.

The initiative aims to end widespread fear, violence, and displacement caused by these forest-based attacks. Key Pillars of the Campaign:

1. Media advocacy and raising national awareness.

2. Community mobilization and formation of local watch groups.

3. Policy reform enforcing a nationwide ban on open grazing.

4. Collaboration with security agencies, civil society, and traditional leaders.

Demands: 1. Nationwide legislation and enforcement of the open grazing ban.

2. Ongoing forest clearance and dismantling of criminal camps by security forces.

3. State-level rural security systems and forest surveillance.

4. Community training for safe reporting of suspicious activities.

Activities Include:

1. Video campaigns with real community footage.

2. Social media mobilization using #FreeTheBushNow.

3. Town halls, peaceful rallies, and legislative advocacy.

4. Petitions to international bodies like the UN and AU.
